G4TV RIFT End-game Raiding Video

Posted 19 February 2011 by [2]

In a special feature on G4TV, producer Adam Gershowitz showed them the various aspects of end-game raiding in RIFT and what’s in store when we all hit level 50, a topic that many RIFT players will be wanting to know more about. Well worth a watch this one.

The video shows the RIFT raid tears in Stillmoor and how they are opened up for raid groups of ten. It’s interesting to note that more than ten can join the ten man rift raid but only the group that initiated the rift raid will get the good loot and additional players that join will be rewarded with the more typical RIFT items such as cash.

These raid RIFTs are more than just your standard RIFT encounter, they also tell a story and are much larger with breathing time for the group between every stage of the Rift raid encounter to regroup and get ready for whatever comes next. Each encounter has a raid boss and sub-bosses and the difficulty will be similar to what you see when taking on instance bosses in the game so expect them to be tough. According to Adam, groups will get hours of gameplay from each of these raid encounters so there is plenty to look forward to in the end-game.

Adam also demos the twenty man instanced raid content in Greenscale’s Blight which again ties into the game’s lore. Adam says the encounter could be days worth of content for new groups and even goes as far as to show Greenscale (see yesterday’s official update), the Dragon of Life, who looks fantastic.

This video runs for 18 minutes so grab a coffee and enjoy.

Section Updates – Trainers and Secrets

Posted 19 February 2011 by [Comments Off]

Well, I’ve had a couple of days back in RIFT and I’ve been shown more not-so-secret stashes of loot.  I’ve collated all those with maps and details of some of the loot we’ve got on the appropriate zone puzzle pages.  We’ve also done another full puzzle, Don’t be Cagey which has its own page.  All can be found in the Secrets and Puzzles section.  Thanks to Rushster and Nexaa for helping out with these.

I’ve also added a stack load more profession trainers to the Profession Trainers page.  It was quite a challenge locating the Expert Runecrafter in Lantern Hook. I must have spent 15 minutes looking for the wee tunnel leading underground.  I’ve put the coordinates of the tunnel too.

I’ll be adding more secrets and puzzles as I come across them.

Basic Healing PhilterNew potion recipes have been added to the enormous list of Apothecary potions too.  It’s beginning to groan under its own weight. Incidentally I spent 50 Artisan’s Marks today on the Basic Healing Philter recipe, apparently the first on the shard to acquire one.  Health bombs for party members, sounds like it could be useful. My rogue will be testing these on my guild mates later tonight.

Official Site Updates – PvP and Greenscale

Posted 19 February 2011 by [Comments Off]
Greenscale

Don't enter the woods!

A couple of new additions ot the official site this evening which include The Legend of Greenscale which tells the the story of the Elf girl Arissia and Greenscale.

Trion has also updated their site with a new PvP info page for anyone wanting to double check the game’s PvP features before diving in.

PvP has been a bit of an adventure for me in RIFT, I really suck at PvP, it’s never been something I have got stuck into in MMOs.

That has not stopped me jumping into the Warfronts in RIFT, because you have to try everything in Beta. Out of the three types of PvP Warfronts so far the CTF Whitefall Steppes has been top of my list. I will say that Warfronts are a pretty good place to pick up some extra XP, before you know it you can find yourself levelled. Anwyay, make sure you at least try all of the Warfronts once , they are a lot of fun.
