A super lengthy set of patch notes for the Alpha test servers that are currently testing upcoming the v1.2 changes which are due to go live around 4 May. Read on for all the updates which includes a lot of what we have mentioned in the news this week.
It’s an on-going process by the community as more nuggets of info regarding changes on the Alpha servers surface throughout today. To make things easier for everyone, I have zipped around and picked up everything I can find so far from the community posts in all the TRION forums, there’s been a lot of action to keep up with.
If you’re on the Alpha servers testing, feel free to add any changes you spot to the ever-expanding list which is covering classes and new features TRION appear to be adding. Looks like the devs have been working overtime.
Alpha Wardrobe
All sorts happening on the Alpha servers at the moment including the new Wardrobe tab which was spotted by Festo. The first slot comes free and then subsequent costs are 10, 50, 100 Planarite.
Items equipped in the Wardrobe are removed from your bag and the sets seem to be changeable during combat. No doubt much of this will change but interesting nevertheless. No Alpha patch notes have yet been released by TRION.
The first major content patch is just around the corner and if you want to help TRION test the update then read on, but remember, if you do join in it is a pretty major spoiler.
The River of Souls reeks with the foul stench of Death. Alsbeth the Discordant, bride of Regulos, sows her evil will into the soulstream that binds Telara with the afterlife. Dark magic corrupts the spirits within, transforming them into lifeless husks eager to serve the Devourer.
Alsbeth is determined to crush Telara under the tread of the Endless Court, and tear down the Ward to make way for a massive invasion. It now falls to you, Ascended, to beat back the darkness before the world is snuffed out!
Update 1.1 brings a host of changes and new features, and to prepare for its worldwide debut, we are calling on everyone willing to assist in testing the River of Souls World Event. This event introduces the next phase in RIFT’s saga, and will rage across all Telara, culminating in an unforgettable battle with Alsbeth’s forces in Stillmoor… should you survive that long.
Join us tonight (while you still draw breath), Wednesday, March 23, 2011, for a special sneak peek of the event at 5:00PM PST. You will witness the grand finale of the world event and see what’s in store when 1.1 is unleashed. Leveling merchants will be available in Merdian and Sanctum to help you take part in all the action.
Be sure you don’t miss out by grabbing the Alpha client early. Simply follow these instructions and you’ll be ready to go. Remember: any previous characters you had on Alpha will still be available to play, but no live-to-Alpha character copies will be available for this event.

Although most players are still beavering away on the live version of RIFT, Alpha test servers are being opened up to test new content. A word of warning here, if you don’t want to have any spoilers then do not take part in the Alpha testing. Rememeber, it is for testing to help TRION.
Players can have their first look at the premiere update for Rift today (Saturday 3/5/11) starting @ 2:00PM PST!
We’re already hard at work on Rift’s first major update and soon we will need your help! We will be temporarily opening the Alpha test shard for all players with an active subscription very soon, here you will be able to have a firsthand look at all the new content and improvements we have in the wings.
Alpha will only be open during certain periods so be sure to check it out and give your feedback when you can! Of course, being a test shard means that at times things will not go as planned – expect bugs, bumps, and frequent maintenance.
While you can’t copy your characters, those who played on Alpha before headstart will find their characters are still available. Lastly, try to avoid sharing spoilers across the forums; many players enjoy learning and discovering the game on their own, we appreciate your understanding.

If you still have your client installed from pre-headstart Alpha testing, don’t re-download the game. Simply launch Alpha and patch up!
