If you’ve been following all the hacking issues for the past few weeks you’ll know that it’s been a bit of a nightmare for TRION.
In the past 48 hours a player going by the name of ManWitDaPlan found a major vulnerability in the login process that allowed him to basically login to anyone’s account without the correct credentials. Thankfully ManWitDaPlan was a decent community member and contacted TRION to let them know how he did it. TRION verified the process and hopped right on the case to plug the hole. Last night’s patch update will have sorted the issue out and outstanding problems with the Coin Lock feature which allowed hackers to delete characters despite being Coin Locked.
It has been a tough launch for TRION with a lot of accounts being compromised, whether it is through this bug that was found or hackers phishing for details, but they have been on the case since mass reports started to come on. Although this bug has been sorted, players need to be very careful with their login information as well as keeping their PC protected from anything that could be served through a web browser.
Since the update rolled out, Scott Hartsman responded to fill everyone in on the bug and what exactly went down which is great to see. It’s a long update so read it all after the break.
