It’s another update to from TRION and this week it’s a look at the Charmer’s Caldera dungeon. For all the shots and lore read on after the break.

In the twilight of the Eth Empire, the Sorcerer Kings commissioned a secure laboratory in Shimmersand, its very existence a matter of extreme secrecy. They were never able to unveil their project, for when the Convocation came, a massive volcano erupted directly under the facility. All its research disappeared in a rush of molten rock, to be forgotten for eons with the rest of the extinguished empire.

Updates Coming to PvP, Souls, Crafting and Expert Dungeons

TRION has been busy posting today with numerous updates affecting specific areas of the game. The updates cover class changes, PvP balance, crafting and expert dungeons. Hotfix #4: 4/3/11

The Runebreaking update has been sorted along with duingeon and raids updates.

Hotfix #4: 4/3/11 14:00 GMT

* Fixed an economy bug involving the Runebreaking ability.

DUNGEONS AND RAIDS
* Greenscale’s Blight: Lockout timer has been changed from 3 days to 1 week.
* Players can no longer reset Expert or Raid instances that are locked to their party.
* Increased the bonus granted by Hit and Focus against Expert Dungeon and Raid mobs.
* Increased the Dodge and Resistances of Expert Dungeon and Raid mobs.

Scarwood Reach Map

The latest zone to be revealed by Trion, Scarwood Reach, has now been added to the map gallery.  As always it comes in three sizes, regular, medium and mega.

Official Response on 10 Man Raid Removal

Some people were disappointed, others were not bothered by the news that 10 Man raids will not be appearing. Today the official response was highlighted again which explains TRION’s decision.

In our original design we also preferred to have both available. But at least for now we are moving all instanced Raids to be tuned for 20-players. We may add the 10-man versions back in post-launch but I’m not making any promises. This is has not been a quick decision. We have been discussing this option for awhile. Below is the “short version” of some of the main reasons we changed our design.

1. We’re providing significantly more raid content then we originally scoped. This has allowed us to provide parties of both sizes content that is uniquely tailored to them.

2. We took a close look at the feedback and questions we received from our player-base AND took a very close look at “other-game(s)” that provided content with multiple raid sizes. Our general consensus is that there can be significant negative effects on the players and guilds as they try to both maximize their gear acquisition and straddle the two different raid-sizes.

3. Making this change streamlines our design process. There is a significant time investment in trying to balance difficulty and rewards to the two raid sizes. What we didn’t want was there to be an “easier path” to progression. We knew this ahead of time and were prepared for it. But now this frees up our resources to provide a higher-quality experience and more content overall… or as I like call it “MoreBetter”.

For those of you in smaller guilds we totally understand your concerns. We have several designers on the instance team that play in 10-man guilds. But we do hope that you can participate in the 20-man content either by joining forces with another small guild or perhaps growing the size of your own. Even if you don’t there will still be a lot of 10-man content to enjoy throughout Rift.

IncGamers Guild Does King’s Breach

During Beta 6 the IncGamers guild were busy getting down and dirty with a few dungeon runs and while I was busy getting some shut-eye (damn you sleep!),  some of the guys decided it was time to tackle King’s Breach, the new dungeon which opened with the introduction of Scarwood Reach. On hand was Korialstraz, Nexxa, Brakz, Kanner and new recruit Pluteus. I have to say they did an excellent job at planning and coordination and I have left in the vent chat so you can hear what is going on tactically.

Builds included Warrior tank spec (Paladin main soul – Warlord for buffs – Void Knight for magic res), Healer specced with (sentinal – warden – purifier), Healer (Sentinel main and Warden secondary, no 3rd soul).

The video comes in four parts and runs in total for around thirty minutes. Part one is below and you can find the others after the break. Also while I have your attention, the IncGamers Guild is looking for new recruits so if you want to join this great group of guys and girls then let us know in the forums.
