First Look – Lantern Hook
Posted 24 January 2011 by Rushster [Comments Off]Trion has revealed another instance this evening. It’s a five-man dungeon named The Fall of Lantern Hook, located at the bottom of a deep well in the Droughtlands.
Those who swim to the very depths of the well are transported to a land of endless flame; a vision of what Telara will become if the Ascended fail in their mission. Guardians believe the experiences in Lantern Hook are visions sent by the Vigil, while the Defiant suspect it is an alternative future.
Players can expect to encounter Flamebringer Druhl, the demonic general of the Wanton armies, and Pyromancer Cortilnald, “arguably the greatest living Mage of his school.” The area is also inhabited by packs of Kobolds. Those damn Kobolds, they get everywhere in fantasy titles don’t they?
Read more for a couple of Lantern Hook images, and don’t forget that IncGamers has thousands of VIP beta keys to give away. Get in there now to stand a great chance of taking part in tomorrow’s beta session.
Mathosian Empire Lore and Shots
Posted 17 January 2011 by Rushster [Comments Off]More lore action in the form of new shots and some background information on the Mathosian Empire courtesy of TRION.
The Mathosian Empire
For the king!
On the last day of his reign, King Jostyr Mathos walked to his throne, leaning on the arms of his sons. The king and the princes wore their plates of war, and though Jostyr’s eyes could barely see, his hand did not shake around the hilt of his sword. From the seat of power, he spoke his people’s history, thus:
Daily Rift Eyecandy
Posted 12 January 2011 by Rushster [Comments Off]Okay, I’ve had time to dig through my screenshot folder now and apart from realising I take way too many shots that I *think* will make a cool addition to the gallery I have found some I think may interesting viewing for one reason or another. I’ve added captions to larger versions of all the shots to better explain what’s in them so click the thumbs for those (they’ll open in a new window).
Lastly three shots that I’ve put in the amusing gallery because they’re either graphical glitches or just weird.

Screenshots from Phase Three
Posted 3 January 2011 by Rushster [1]I’ve been sifting through some of the shots I took from the last phase of testing and found a few that are interesting enough to share.
My rogue having dyed her outfit with bright red dye (10 gold per bottle bottle). I couldn’t die her belt. As you can see the dye doesn’t apply to the entire outfit, it leaves some of it in its original state. At first I was disappointed with that, I wanted full control over what was coloured, but I can see it works much nicer as a trim. The hat I got as a quest reward very late in the day so it was the last thing to be dyed. You can see the outfit from the top here and this one shows the cowl off particularly well.
Thontic’s Row in the Guardian main city of Sanctum. It’s a lovely space to walk around and there’s plenty of room for players around the various NPCs so it never gets too congested. The Auctioneer’s area is dead ahead.
An Aelfwar Vindicator attacks Quicksilver College and players defend as you can see by the bumber of buffs he has on him. You can’t see him in this shot but he’s a massive treeant but I thought this shot of players attacking him and the buffs amassed on him makes interesting viewing.
In the customisation setting you can drag and drop and resize all the components of the UI. I’ve hardly altered mine. I had every intention of doing so but everything is pretty much in the best place. The only thing I changed was to make the chat interface as small as I could.
You can also import your UI from another one of your characters.
My Rogue uses Twin Strike on an Aelfwar Defender. It’s not really appropriate for this situation but it’s a fun skill to use – great sound and visual effects and it feels like it has some oomph behind it.
Twin Strike attacks the enemy with their main hand and 1 other enemy around them with their offhand. Each attack deals weapon plus Pysical damage and awards 1 Combo Point.
A minor rift which eventually opened up into a Fire rift. Rifts are impressive to watch even if their minor state.
A warrior fights an Aelfwar Defender up at Overwatch Keep. His sword is embued with Fiery Burst (I think).
TRION Shows Freemarch Zone
Posted 31 December 2010 by Rushster [Comments Off]The latest update on the official site introduces the Defiant Zone of Freemarch, which as TRION puts it, was once “breadbasket of both Telara’s great empires, now home to the brilliant Defiant”. A few new shots accompany the update which you can read after the break.
